It is with unbelieveable delight and amazement that I welcome into my home and into my heart my new little Norse goddess, Ch. NorthWapiti's Freya. Freya is from Karen Ramstead's Norse gods and goddesses litter, appropriately named because their sire was Iditarod finisher Tumnatki's Bosun NorthWapiti and their mother multi BIS/BISS Ch. Chuchinka's Dance In the Wind SDX. Freya herself has been running on Karen's A team for several years. She has run lead for Karen and made the cut of 20 dogs that got to go up to Alaska with Karen last year.

Only bloodwork being a little off stopped her from making the final cut and being on Karen's Iditarod team. Karen tells me that so far this year Freya has 600 miles on her. I'm REALLY going to have to get out biking and sledding a LOT just to make sure Freya gets at least a quarter of the exercise she is use to!! :-) I'm sure I'm going to be blown away when I get her out in harness. This dog has a gorgeous front end on her.

Despite being a first class sleddog, Freya, outside of harness, is just a beautiful little doll with an absolutely impeccable temperament. When Karen took her out of her box the tail was wagging a mile a minute and within a few seconds I was on the floor and she was on her back in my lap wanting her belly rubbed. I'm definitely going to have to grow another hand with three belly rubbing addicts in my household.

I am still stunned how fate stepped in this week and allowed this all to happen. I should have been at the Show of Shows in Ottawa with Levi, but ended up at the National in Winnipeg instead. I'd been talking to Karen Ramstead for a year now about Freya but only to lease her because in Karen's words "she would be crasy to let a dog go who had the potential of being both an Iditarod finisher and a champion". I had to agree. But again, fate stepped in and just at the time I made the decision to fly to the National, Karen made what I know was the EXTREMELY difficult decision to let me be Freya's new mom. I cannot thank Karen enough for this wonderful opportunity. Freya is everything I was looking for. Karen knows that Freya will be deeply loved by me for the rest of her life.

Thank you Karen from the bottom of by heart. I promise that at least one hug that Freya gets each day will be from you.
