Iditarod Finishing Champions

Champion NorthWapiti's Valkyrie Kara - (5 Time Iditarod Leader)

Kara has never found the show ring the most fun place to hang out, but she still managed to finish her Championship easily and rack up a couple Group placements along the way.  Her Iditarod career got off to a slow start but in 2004 she stormed to the front of my team and lead for about 80% of the race. From then until 2007 Kara was the 'go to' gal on the team. She has finished one Iditarod (2004) and participated in the 2005 and 2006 races.

Loki is a solid and sound dog, but lacks the 'flash' to be a real star in the show ring. Thanks to help from his good friend, Cynthia Seeling,
Loki did finish his Championship before deciding to just focus on his working career. In harness Loki has been a star since he was a puppy. He finished the 2004 and 2006 Iditarods - and participated in the 2005 and 2007 races as well.
 
Champion NorthWapiti's Crunchie - (5 Time Iditarod Team Member)

I always thought Crunchie's dark masking might hurt him in the show ring, but it really didn't. The judges that loved him, loved him and he
finished his Championship with 3 - 5 pt wins. His Championship status was confirmed with a Group 2nd from the classes under judge Judith Shurb.  In 2007 he also won the Open Dog class at the SHCA National Specialty in California under breeder/judge Carol Nash.
There is just no comparing to Crunchie in harness - he is an iron horse, never having been dropped or injured in 10s of thousands of miles in harness. He has finished 3 Iditarods (2004, 2006 and 2008) and participated in a few more.

The Dasher Dog bounced her way to her Championship in style, finishing with a Group placement from the classes (over her mother, Kara).  In harness she has been a main leader in the team finishing the 2006 and 2008 Iditarods. I doubt 2008 was her last Iditarod either!
